One of the challenges of creating a portrait of an animal is how to visually capture some aspect of their personality. This is a portrait of Bonnie, a Schnauzer that expected to get her own way on just about every issue. It was not clear to me how this could be presented until one day when she had been swimming and had a tangled, mottled look. She sat with a ball at her feet and demanded that I throw it for her. The photograph was taken on a concrete floor in the bright sun which lends itself to a white background for a cut portrait. This was my first animal portrait.
